HARTING: Current Measurement
April 13, 2020
Whether for transportation or industrial applications: the ability to quickly and accurately detect current is required in order to precisely control power electronics systems such as frequency converters, traction converters, UPS systems or welding systems.
Current sensors are electromechanical components which deliver a precise, real-time representation of the input and output currents. The measuring signals are then used (e.g. in frequency converters) for precisely controlling the power semiconductors and for monitoring performance and functionality. The current sensors from HARTING are based on the so-called Hall effect.
Current transformers for measurement convert high currents in a conductor using a fixed ratio (e.g. 1 : 600) into electrical signals. They can thus provide reliable input variables for evaluation units. For example, you can monitor the deviating currents in the outgoing and returning conductors in frequency converters, or accurately measure the power consumption of decentralized energy plants.
