The modular safety gate system from Pilz offers individual safety gate solutions that are ideally tailored to the requirements of the most varied applications. Users benefit from an economical series connection, rapid diagnostics, additional control and pushbutton elements and an optional escape release. Different components can be combined to fit the application, allowing users to achieve an individual safety gate solution, ideally tailored to the respective application. The safety gate system now includes the safety gate sensors PSENmlock with series connection and the pushbutton unit PITgatebox.

The core of the modular safety gate system is comprised of the safety gate sensors PSENslock and PSENmlock. The former offers safe position monitoring with process guard locking in one system, while PSENmlock can be used up to the highest category thanks to the safe interlock and safe guard locking for the protection of personnel and processes.

World first: Intelligent safety sensor for individual control

The safety gate system now also includes the version "PSENmlock with series connection" for the safety gate sensor PSENmlock for safe interlock and safe guard locking. Used in combination with the diagnostic solution Safety Device Diagnostics (SDD) from Pilz, targeted control of up to 16 individually controlled switches or gates is now also possible. Expensive individual wiring in the control cabinet is no longer necessary. This safety gate solution not only offers an economical series connection, but also high availability thanks to the comprehensive diagnostics. As a result, downtimes can be reduced considerably.

Optional escape releases are available

As optional accessories for the safety gate sensors PSENmlock, there are two new versions of the escape release available, which can be combined with all types of the safety gate sensor: A bar is used to connect PSENml escape release directly to the base unit, while PSENml escape release cordset is mounted on PSENmlock via a pull-push wire. The latter enables the installation of the safety gate system and escape release to be physically separate. It is particularly easy to install and low-maintenance, as the pull-push wire does not have to be under tension. Both versions of the optional escape release ensure maximum safety.

New pushbutton unit for simple operation

The new pushbutton unit PITgatebox for simple operation and control of safety gate sensors is part of the safety gate system and rounds out the system. The pushbutton unit enables the control of commands that activate, stop or reset your machine or system, for example. Thanks to the slim design, the robust control unit can be installed quickly and easily on standard profile systems. The PITgatebox is available in a number of versions and with its robust die cast zinc housing is particularly resistant to shock, vibration and collision. Its slim housing enables space-saving installation. Each preconfigured version with various combinations of pushbuttons, key switches and E-STOP pushbuttons provides maximum flexibility for individual applications.

Modular safety gate system for all applications

The safety gate system package contains not only both safety gate sensors, but also various accessories such as different escape releases and handle types for swing or sliding gates. A pushbutton unit that can be used with both safety gate sensors completes the system. Together with the diagnostic solution Safety Device Diagnostics (SDD) and in combination with Pilz control technology, the result is an economical, complete solution for the safety gate sector.

Extremely space-saving and flexible

The C60xx series of scalable ultra-compact Industrial PCs combines maximum computing power in what is currently the most compact format with a wide range of options for installation in the control cabinet. Performance classes and application areas

The C601x series offers Intel Atom computing power for a wide range of automation and visualization tasks. Due to their impressive computing power in relation to their size, the PCs are mainly suited for use in Industrie 4.0 applications, for example as an IoT gateway.

The C603x series unites high-performance Intel Core-i processors with extremely compact housing dimensions. The processors from the 65 W class have only been used in the much larger ATX-based Industrial PCs up to now. The devices thus represent a new dimension in terms of power density. They are suitable above all for particularly complex automation and visualization tasks, but also for a wide range of other applications in the field of image processing, the handling of large volumes of data and in the IoT environment.

The C602x series is the link between the C601x and the C603x, and the fanless integration of Intel Core-i-U processors of the 15 W class opens up new application areas and options.

TE Connectivity has recently upgraded its rugged, high-speed Mezalok mezzanine connector family to support the growing demand for higher data rates and improved processing power in military electronics. The upgraded connectors have increased data rate support up to 32+ Gb/s. The Mezalok connector family has been designed specifically for mezzanine cards in rugged applications and is standardized as the interconnect for XMC 2.0 (VITA 61). Rapidly evolving technologies in signal intelligence, radar, communications and surveillance are driving the need for more powerful embedded computing solutions. 

Mezzanine cards are often used to provide additional functionality and processing capability within a small form factor. TE designed the Mezalok connector family to support these applications. Typical applications include application-specific high-speed input/output (I/O) protocols, graphics, memory and digital-signal processing.

“New designs in rugged embedded computing require higher speeds and high pin counts in order to pack more functionality into smaller plug-in modules,” said Jason Dorwart, product manager for TE’s Aerospace, Defense and Marine division. “TE recognizes this trend and is continuing to build on this platform to help solve customer needs, offering new options in stack height, pin density and higher speeds, giving the system designer a broader solution set to work with when needing a fast, rugged and reliable mezzanine connector for extreme environments.” 

TE’s highly reliable Mezalok mezzanine connectors more than double the speed and durability of competing technology, making it one of the most viable options for today’s military and commercial aerospace applications.
