Banner Engineering: EG24 Precision Edge Sensor – High-Precision Wide-Beam Measurement Improves Quality and Yield
April 26, 2024
The EG24 is a retroreflective edge measurement sensor designed for fast measurement.
Its resolution of less than 10 microns precisely detects the position of materials while the 2 kHz measurement frequency rapidly measures those positions. Together, this combination of high precision and quick response maximizes process control, improves downstream yield, and minimizes waste. The sensor offers multiple measuring modes and can track a broad variety of materials, including a wide range of opacity and texture. This versatility makes it suitable for many different applications.
Wide Retroreflective Sensing Beam Delivers Precision Measurement Over a Large Area
The EG24 maintains a high resolution across its 24-millimeter wide by 40-millimeter sensing area allowing for variation in part presentation. This lets the EG24 detect very small targets (such as thin fibers or threads) even as they move around. This allows for greater flexibility in measurements, reduces fixturing complexity, and provides more reliability than a single point sensor.
Multiple Measuring Modes Provide Application Flexibility in One Device
The EG24 has several measurement modes to analyze different types of materials in multiple ways. These modes can precisely track edges or measure targets with a wide variety of opacities and textures. The Single Edge mode is used for tracking and positioning of web or sheet edges while the Width and Gap modes are useful for confirming quality of a product or for process dimension verification.
