Wurth

Würth Elektronik now offers WE-CLFS EMC Line Filters, which include the components needed for an EMC filter inside of a welded enclosure to improve shielding. All WE-CLFS filters have at least 65dB of peak attenuation, and come with UL and VDE certifications, which ensures safety requirements are already factored into the design. With 3 different types available: single stage, single-stage advanced, and two-stage, with options of with a rated current up to 20A.

Another solution is the Design Your EMC filter series, which provides a fast and cost efficient opportunity to set up different filter designs. Afterwards testing them in the EMC laboratory can take place without having the unpleasant task of performing a redesign every time. The new “Design Your Own EMC Filter” kit includes different common mode chokes (CMCs), X capacitors, Y capacitors, and connectors, as well as a booklet including pre-determined filters that eliminate calculations and component selection. This kit enables the user to assemble a working EMC filter during design.

For the off-the-shelf power supply’s radiated emissions, a cable ferrite is the easiest solution. Würth Elektronik’s free component selection tool, REDEXPERT, allows users to sort through all cable ferrites, including parts to fit specific cables, to find the best solution in just a few seconds.

Design Kit Features

  • Test-PCBs offer an easy way to build up a line filter
  • Common mode chokes suppress common mode noise
  • X-Capacitors short differential mode noise to neutral
  • Y-Capacitors short common mode noise to ground
  • Resistor discharges X-Capacitors

The KDL/D cable entry system allows cables to be installed through enclosures or other bulkhead surfaces, with the added benefit that pre-made, terminated cables can be installed without disassembling the connectors. The split-frame system enables the quick and simple installation of up to 48 cables in a single frame. Four frame sizes, starting at $16.00, fit standard cut-out dimensions and provide integrated strain relief. The KLD/D system’s robust multi-part frame design gives better mechanical stability while achieving a high degree of environmental protection.

The multi-part split-frame system clamps together with a grommet block and grommets to provide a high-density cable entry point with an IP65 environmental rating. Small and medium size grommets (from $6.00) accept cable diameters from 0.08 to 0.87 inches (2 to 22mm).
