Teledyne Relays: Four New Reed Relay Series Offer 1-Billion Cycles
June 6, 2022
Teledyne’s Reed Relays are a series of switching solutions with long life reliability, upward of 1-billion cycles, using hermetically sealed contacts within glass tube. Reed relays are packaged reed switches in multiple types of housing packages: Industry standard Dual-In-Line Package (DIP), Single-In-Line- Package (SIP), Metal Cover Shielded Relays, or Lightweight Plastic Package.
Whether the application is AC or DC, high-power switching up to 7500V or low-power, or whether applications with high insulation resistance requirements of up to 3000V, or application with minimal magnetic interference from other surrounding relays or components, Teledyne Relays has a solution.
Teledyne’s Reed Relays come in multiple contact forms – 1A, 1B, 1C or 2A with multiple coil voltages or ranges of Amp-Turns and some with integrated diode option.
The new reed relay product families are optimized for different customer demands:
- Single-in-line (SIL) and Dual-in-line (DIL) packaged parts containing one or more reed switches and an electromagnet, encapsulated in thermoset plastic and packaged for easy solderability to a printed circuit board, or inserted into sockets for easy replacement.
- The new HVR series relays are designed for high voltage/high power applications, and can switch up to 7.5 kV, 1.5 kW
- For applications where isolation is a priority, the HIR series offers up to 3 kV isolation between coil and contacts
- MCR series relays are designed with a focus on metal shielding. Options include shielding to protect contacts from external interference from other nearby relay
Applications for Reed Relays include automated test equipment, remote sensing/measurement, telecommunications, security/access control, industrial control systems, dielectric voltage testing/hi-pot cable testing, ESD sensitivity testing, medical equipment, power generation/conversion, power protection circuits, motor controllers & inductive load.
