New 12.1” Medical Touch Monitor From Contec Americas Offers Efficiency, Durability, and Longevity With a Modern Look
March 4, 2021
Contec Americas Inc. has recently added a new 12.1” projected capacitive (PCAP) touch monitor to its current medical HMI line-up. Due to the increased automation and digitalization of medical services, medical device manufacturers are under increasing pressure to optimize the performance and longevity of their medical equipment. This shift has resulted in a growing need for reliability, durability, and revision control in medical technology. To address this, Contec developed the CM-ME121P PCAP touch medical monitor which combines a compact form factor with advanced touch screen technology and a long lifecycle. The display also features a sealed front bezel, industry-leading brightness (500 nits), IEC/EN 60601, 61326, and 55011 medical certifications, and unique upgrades like programmable soft touch buttons, USB hub, and a locking power adapter.
“The CM-ME121P was designed with workflow efficiency, process streamlining, and multi-tasking in mind,” said Jeannette Toews, Director of Display Solutions at Contec Americas. “These displays are used in busy hospitals and laboratories and serve as a critical interface between the doctor or nurse and the lab equipment. In addition to meeting stringent medical emissions and safety requirements, the displays need to be durable enough to withstand demanding usage and small enough to fit in tight spaces.”
In addition to meeting all of the basic requirements of a medical OEM monitor, the CM-ME121P offers some one-of-a-kind enhancements that distinguish it from the competition.
Ultra-compact 12.1 inch form factor
The ultra-compact 12.1-inch form factor with near-square aspect ratio takes into consideration the limited space available in most labs or patient bedside environments.
Programmable, front-facing soft keys
The one-click touch enable/disable soft key located on the front of the monitor makes cleaning and disinfecting easier than ever and prevents unintended keystrokes.
Additional one-click soft buttons can be programmed for a variety of functions to streamline operations.
USB hub and medical-grade power adapter with locking mechanism
The USB hub can be used to power connected peripheral devices like a small printer or scanner.
An optional 24V/1.5A medical-grade power adapter with locking mechanism prevents accidental shutoff from a jostled power cord.
Advanced Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch technology
Advanced Projected Capacitive (PCAP) touch technology supports up to 10-point touch.
IP65-rated front bezel
IP65-rated front bezel is sealed to prevent intrusion of dust or liquids.
The CM-ME121P comes fully certified with FCC-B, IEC/EN 60601-1-2: 2015, EN 55011:2016 and IEC/EN 61326-1: 2013 for medical laboratory electrical equipment. The units are designed for long life and include strict revision control.
“The CM-ME121P offers a rare combination of form and function that make it the ideal touch monitor for any medical lab or clinical environment,” concluded Toews. “We are excited to get it in our customer’s hands to test drive and see for themselves.”
