Siemens HB3-Compact generator circuit-breaker
With its HB3-Compact generator circuit-breaker, Siemens provides a unique generator circuit breaker solution to the most challenging constraints. Offering more customization options, the generator circuit-breaker can be mounted either vertically or horizontally, and its phase-to phase spacing and phase height axis can be adjusted to match perfectly to the existing busbar connection points. The circuit-breaker can also be fitted with integrated line disconnecting switch and earth disconnecting switch on generator side and/or on transformer side. These features make it especially valuable for retrofit applications in power plants, where the highest security of supply is crucial, and space is limited due to existing installations.
With the increasing percentage of renewable power, reliable protection technology is needed to handle higher voltages resulting from temporary higher power infeed, for example. Generator circuit-breakers are key components for improving the reliability and availability of power plants. They protect equipment such as generators and transformers against overload or short circuiting by disconnecting and connecting them from and to the grid.
With its adaptable design and installation, the new HB3-Compact model offers power plant operators the greatest degree of flexibility when designing a new plant or replacing outdated equipment. It has a simplified footprint, which facilitates the designing and dimensioning of the switchgear. The supporting frame design can be customized, meaning the phases can be fitted in one common or an individual frame design to enable splitting of the phases, for example when installing in different rooms.
Besides this flexibility in design, HB3-C also supports plant operators in saving costs during project implementation and operation. Thanks to the unit’s compact size, its transport, erection and commissioning are simplified and outage times for the installation of a new circuit-breaker can be kept to a minimum. The maintenance-free vacuum switching technology used in the switchgears eliminates the need for gas handling, guarantees minimum maintenance costs and increases the recycling rate of the HB3 systems. The HB3-C is part of the Siemens Blue Portfolio, combining high-tech performance with environmentally safe materials and work procedures.

Eaton has recently announced the xStorage battery energy storage system (BESS) to accelerate decarbonization projects and maximize the impact of onsite renewables. By providing the ability to strategically dispatch stored energy and operate independently from the electric grid, the solution can help communities and businesses reduce energy costs, lower carbon emissions and maintain power during utility outages. Energy storage is cornerstone to Eaton’s Everything as a Grid approach to the energy transition.
Two product versions have been added to Phoenix Contact’s portfolio of narrow surge protective devices for MCR technology with an overall width of just 6 mm. With TTC-6P-2×2 and TTC-6P-4×1, items are now available for protecting both analog and digital 4-conductor applications. Both product versions feature a modular design. They consist of a base element and protective plug, and have an integrated disconnect device.
OnFILTER, a California-based company, presents its complete line of DIN rail EMI filters suitable for UL508-A electrical panels. Filters cover wide range of applications: AC, DC, ground, motion control (servo/VFD/steppers), power line communication (PLC), and 4…20mA data, helping to improve error-free uninterrupted operation. Patented filters offer high performance in small packages.
Yokogawa Electric Corporation have recently announced that it has developed the TDLS8200 probe type tunable diode laser spectrometer and will release it for sale on May 6 as part of its OpreX™ Analyzer family. While featuring the same low installation cost, high measurement stability, and high reliability of the preceding TDLS8100, the TDLS8200 will be able to simultaneously measure oxygen, carbon monoxide, and methane gas concentrations directly and at high speed.
