Industrial Sensors with Ex d Protection—Pepperl+Fuchs Combines Expertise in New Product Line
October 5, 2020
The use of electrical equipment in hazardous areas requires strict conformity to the relevant standards and directives. This also applies when integrating industrial sensors into such environments and often creates challenges for users. As a pioneer and innovator in factory and process automation, Pepperl+Fuchs now offers a range of turnkey, ATEX/IECEx-certified solutions to help solve this problem.
By installing standard sensors in special Ex d housings, the components can also be used easily and safely within ATEX/IECEx Zones 1/21 or 2/22. The available solutions combine expertise in industrial sensor technology and electrical explosion protection and meet a wide range of application requirements.
IQH1-FP-V1-Ex GUBW1 RFID Read/Write Head for Hazardous Areas
Pepperl+Fuchs has been developing and producing RFID components for more than 30 years. The IQH1-FP-V1 HF read/write head is a result of this work. It offers reliable detection of a range of RFID tags from the Pepperl+Fuchs portfolio and can communicate via various bus types (including PROFINET, PROFIBUS DP, EtherNet/IP, TCP/IP, MODBUS) when used with the corresponding Pepperl+Fuchs IDENTControl control unit.
Housing: GUB series, Ex d, IP66 rated, material: seawater-resistant aluminum with viewing window made of temperature-resistant glass.
IUH-F190-V1-FR1-01-Ex GUBW RFID Read/Write Head for Hazardous Areas
On the one hand, the IUH-F190-V1-FR1-01 RFID read/write head has the same features as the IQH1-FP-V1 (precise reading, interoperability with various bus types, tags from a single source). On the other hand, this component designed for the UHF frequency range offers additional advantages. Fast, multitag reading enables many RFID tags to be detected simultaneously. In addition, switchable antenna polarization ensures reliable tag detection and improves process flows.
Housing: GUB series, Ex d, IP66 rated, material: seawater-resistant aluminum with viewing window made of temperature-resistant glass.
VDM28-50-R1-IO/110/116/122-Ex Distance Sensor
The VDM28-50-R1-IO/110/116/122 distance sensor is suitable for a wide range of applications, from object detection and classification to level measurement and collision protection. It uses Pulse Ranging Technology (PRT), which was developed by Pepperl+Fuchs and emits a high number of light pulses in a short time. This results in precise, clear, and repeatable measurement results. In addition, the sensor supports the IO-Link standard, which means it is also suitable for Industry 4.0 applications.
Housing: GUB series, Ex d, IP66 rated, material: seawater-resistant aluminum with viewing window made of temperature-resistant glass.
INX360D-F99-I2E2-V15-Ex Inclination Sensor
The INX360D-F99-I2E2-V15 inclination sensor is designed to measure inclination from 0 to 360°. It is encased in an explosion-proof enclosure and is used, for example, on oil rigs or tankers to ensure that anchor chains are locked in place. In these demanding environments, it also proves its value by offering high shock resistance. It outputs a 4 mA to 20 mA standard signal and has two programmable switching outputs. An increased immunity of 100 V/m makes it resistant to electromagnetic interference, and the E1 type approval permits operation on public roads.
Housing: EJB series, Ex d, IP66 rated, material: seawater-resistant aluminum.
OPC120W-F200-R2-Ex Stationary Reader
The OPC120W-F2000-R2 stationary reader is equipped with a TCP/IP interface and is based on a vision sensor. With a large depth of field, it is capable of capturing 1-D and 2-D codes at speeds of up to 6 m/s with 30 readings per second despite variable distances and reflective surfaces. The “logo comparison” function ensures that logos are present and positioned correctly.
Housing: GUB series, Ex d, IP66 rated, material: seawater-resistant aluminum with viewing window made of temperature-resistant glass.
PXV100-F200-R4-V19-Ex Optical Read Head
The PXV100-F200-R4-V19 optical read head is part of the PXV positioning system from Pepperl+Fuchs. The system is based on self-adhesive Data Matrix code tape, which is usually attached to a fixed part of the system. The 2-D read head is mounted on a “vehicle” that moves parallel to it. The PXV system offers mechanical durability, high resolution, and precise positioning, especially in systems with curves, switches, and sections that ascend and descend.
Housing: GUB series, Ex d, IP66 rated, material: seawater-resistant aluminum with viewing window made of temperature-resistant glass.
