SCHURTER: Power Dissipation in Power Entry Modules

If different electrical components are combined in an appliance inlet to form a power entry module, the individual power losses and temperature deratings of all components involved must be carefully taken into account in order to ensure long-term safe operation. Power entry modules (PEMs) consist of a combination of different components for the safe power supply of devices. In addition to the IEC appliance inlet connector, mains switches, fuseholders or circuit breakers and filters can be integrated.

Phoenix Contact: TERMITRAB Surge Protective Devices – Monitoring Surge Protection for Signal Interfaces

Signal lines are like nerve tracts in technical systems. Therefore, it is very important to protect these system parts from surge voltages caused by switching operations or lightning strikes. The surge protective devices of the TERMITRAB complete product family from Phoenix Contact enable this protection to be realized while saving space at the same time. Often, the protective components are installed in several control cabinets or in the field. This means that it is very time-consuming or even impossible to gain a permanent visual check of the protective devices on site.
