STEGO: New Hygrostat MFR 012

STEGO: New Hygrostat MFR 012

March 18, 2025

Humidity in electrical enclosures is an invisible but serious threat to electrical systems. It can lead to corrosion, short circuits and functional failures – sometimes with serious consequences for operating processes and system safety. The new MFR 012 humidistat from STEGO has been specially developed to effectively counteract this risk. With its optimized measurement technology, more compact design and improved safety features, it offers a reliable solution for demanding industrial applications.

Optimized technology for challenging environments

Switch cabinets and electrical installation rooms are often exposed to extreme environmental conditions: temperature fluctuations, high humidity and heat sources affect the operational reliability of the components installed in them. The MFR 012 precisely monitors the relative humidity and activates a connected heater or filter fan when a defined threshold value is reached. This prevents condensation from forming before damage occurs.

One of the most important new features of the new version of the MFR 012 is the extension of the adjustable humidity range. With a range of 30 % to 90 % relative humidity, the MFR 012 now offers even more flexibility for a wide variety of applications – from industrial control systems and energy distribution to telecommunications and infrastructure systems. At the same time, the measurement tolerance has been improved to 1.5 % , enabling even more precise humidity control.

Space saving and simplified installation

A significant improvement over the previous version is the optimized design, which allows even more compact integration into the control cabinet. The width of the device has been reduced by 15 mm, leaving more space on the DIN rail for additional components – an advantage that should not be underestimated in control cabinets with a high component density.

Installation has also been made significantly easier: thanks to modern push-in terminals, electrical contacting is now faster and safer. This technology not only reduces wiring work, but also minimizes the risk of contact problems, which in the long term contributes to greater operational reliability of the entire system.

Safety at the highest level

In addition to the functional optimization, the safety level of the MFR 012 has also been further increased. The new version complies with protection class IP30, which offers improved protection against the ingress of foreign bodies. The device also carries the internationally recognized UL and EAC certifications, which enables it to be used in a wide range of industries worldwide.

Another technical advance relates to heat dissipation: the connection terminals have been repositioned so that the waste heat from the electrical cables is dissipated efficiently. This minimizes temperature-related measurement inaccuracies, resulting in even more reliable humidity control.

Available Now

With its improved precision, space-saving design and robust safety technology, the new MFR 012 hygrostat sets a new standard for protecting electrical systems against condensation. It is now available for a wide range of industrial applications.
