Banner Engineering: R50C Motor Driven Roller (MDR) Controller – Compact Plug-and-Play Motor Driven Roller Control

November 4, 2024

The R50C MDR Controller helps keep control of conveyors and other equipment in one system and gives system designers more efficient control of motor driven rollers using a PLC.

Modbus communication, two configurable I/O channels, and a 0–18 volt analog output provide precision MDR control for a variety of conveyor systems, as the R50C is compatible with many different types of MDRs with integrated controls. Standard A-coded M12 connectors for sharing signals, and L-coded M12 pass-through connections for daisy chaining up to 16 amps of motor power, simplify installation of multiple motor driven roller controllers on a conveyor. With its compact sealed housing and connectors, the R50C can be used in refrigerated, wet, and other challenging environments without needing an additional protective enclosure.

Additionally, photoelectric sensors can be easily integrated to create a complete conveyor control system, detecting the leading edge of a package and enabling zone control.
