Omron: New NXR EtherCAT Expands NXR Series Portfolio – Simplifying Remote IO Maintenance and IIoT Adoption
April 5, 2024
OMRON Automation Americas launches the NXR EtherCAT, an addition to the existing NXR Series Remote IO portfolio. The NXR EtherCAT offers solutions that simplify remote IO maintenance operations while retaining all the advantages of remote IO, even in challenging industrial environments.
The NXR Remote IO series provides value across multiple positions in an organization. From supply chain being able to reduce model numbers and inventory, to simplifying setup time for automation engineers, the NXR series offers a flexible Remote IO solution allowing companies to realize the value of IIoT more easily. The NXR configuration flexibility allows IO-Link and digital IO to be combined easily into one part number.
The NXR is available in two separate network models, EtherNetIP for data-intensive applications and ease of connecting to third-party controllers, and EtherCAT for simplifying setup and configuration. The EtherCAT model offers market-first PC-less maintenance and setup, making field replacement fast and easy with technicians not needing to rely on PCs.
Key Features of the NXR EtherCAT Series:
- PC-less maintenance: revolutionizing remote IO maintenance and minimizing downtime. Eliminates the need for a trained engineer to be onsite with a PC for maintenance.
- Automatic IO-Link device configuration with the NXR EtherCAT in Sysmac Studio: OMRON’s software control platform, saves automation engineers considerable time by automatically configuring the IO-Link device’s data and parameters, reducing manual data entry.
- Port Flexibility: Each port can be fully configured between regular IO and IO-Link, reducing the number of models needed to be implemented and stocked.
- Significantly reduce cabling and remote paneling costs: Equipped with IP67 protection and M12 quick disconnect cables for easy standardization.
