This webinar addresses how ISO 13849-1/2 and ANSI B11.26 (standards for safety-relevant control systems) is applied in automation and in the design of plants.

Safe radar sensors are used where optoelectronic sensors reach their limits: rugged environments, such as outdoors or in material processing for example, can be monitored safely using PSENradar. That’s because radar technology (FMCW: frequency modulated continuous wave) ensures high availability even where there are external influences such as dust, dirt, rain, light, sparks or vibrations. The underlying volumetric monitoring with a frequency of 24 – 24.25 GHz can be used up to SIL 2, PL d and Category 3, which is often a requirement in robot applications. The complete solution also has additional interfaces such as Ethernet, Profisafe and FSoE, so making it easy to use the safety radar sensor in retrofit applications.

Siemens Mobility Acquires RailTerm, Strengthening Its Footprint in Canada

Siemens Mobility was recently pleased to announce that it is acquiring RailTerm, a Canadian based transportation company that is a major provider of rail services to railroads and transit agencies. This acquisition signals Siemens Mobility’s intent to grow its Canadian business. RailTerm’s familiarity across Canada’s entire rail spectrum will allow Siemens Mobility to expand its existing portfolio with on-the-ground track and signaling, electrification and communication systems.

Eaton has recently announced two new appointments in its Electrical Sector, Americas Region. Angie McMillin joins as president of Energy Solutions and Services and John Rhodes joins as president of Assemblies and Residential Solutions. Both McMillin and Rhodes report to Mike Yelton, president of Eaton’s Electrical Sector in the Americas, effective November 27, 2023.

As Cyberattacks on Critical Infrastructure Spike, Siemens USA Launches Innovative Cybersecurity Analytics Lab to Help Protect America’s Operational Technology

Siemens USA announced the launch of its technologically advanced cyber test range housed at its U.S. R&D headquarters in Princeton, New Jersey. The COVID-19 pandemic and the related increase in cyberattacks has highlighted the need for facilities such as this to focus on prevention, detection, and response solutions. Recently, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) and the National Security Agency (NSA) put out an alert recommending immediate actions to mitigate attacks on operational technology (OT).

The Siemens SIMOVAC medium-voltage non-arc-resistant and SIMOVAC-AR arc-resistant controllers have a modular design incorporating up to two 12SVC400 (400 A) controllers, housed in a freestanding sheet steel enclosure.
